Worksheet for configuring the IBM Content Navigator web application

Work with your web application server administrator to gather the information that you need to configure the IBM® Content Navigator web application. The IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool uses this information when it creates the IBM Content Navigator web application. The IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool requires that you enter values that are prepared in advance. The worksheet is a useful place to put these values.

Use this worksheet when you complete the following configuration and deployment task in the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool:

Parameter Description Value
IBM Content Navigator authentication You can specify where the initial authentication for IBM Content Navigator occurs.
Valid values:
IBM Content Navigator desktop authentication
Select this option to control access to IBM Content Navigator by using only the IBM Content Navigator desktop authentication settings. This is the default authentication method for IBM Content Navigator.
Application server authentication
Select this option to use the application server to control access to IBM Content Navigator if you have one of the following environments configured:
  • Tivoli® Access Manager for e-business
  • SPNEGO/Kerberos
  • CA SiteMinder

IBM Content Navigator desktop authentication is also required if the authenticating repository for the desktop is not configured for single sign-on.

Application server form-based authentication
WebSphere® Application Server users only: Select this option to control access to IBM Content Navigator if you use a login form to gather and send user credentials to your web application server.

To use form-based authentication, you must have a login page and a login error page deployed in your environment.

IBM Content Navigator desktop authentication is also required if the authenticating repository for the desktop is not configured for single sign-on.

IBM Content Navigator configuration directory The fully qualified path of the IBM Content Navigator config directory.
  • On AIX®, the default directory is /opt/IBM/ECMClient/config
  • On Linux, the default directory is /opt/IBM/ECMClient/config
  • On Linux for System z®, the default directory is /opt/IBM/ECMClient/config
  • On Windows, the default directory is C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\ECMClient\config
 
Schema name For DB2®, DB2 for z/OS®, and Microsoft SQL Server users, specify the schema name that you used when you created the IBM Content Navigator database table.

For Oracle and Oracle RAC users, specify the name of the database user that the IBM Content Navigator data source uses to connect to the database.

JDBC data source name The name of the data source that you created to enable IBM Content Navigator to communicate with the IBM Content Navigator database table.

Temporary directory The fully qualified path to a temporary directory that the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool can use to run the task. You must have read and write access for the directory.

The default directory is the \configure\tmp subdirectory of the IBM Content Navigator installation directory.

It is recommended that you use the default value.
