IBM Content Navigator, Version 2.0.3

Configuring and deploying IBM Content Navigator components

Before users can access IBM® Content Navigator components, you must configure and deploy the components on your web application server.

About this task

The IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool enables you to deploy the following IBM Content Navigator components:
  • An IBM Content Navigator web client application that can connect to one or more of the following types of repositories:
    • IBM Content Manager repositories
    • IBM Content Manager OnDemand repositories
    • IBM FileNet® Content Manager repositories
    • OASIS Content Management Interoperability Services repositories
  • An IBM Content Navigator web client application that is not associated with a repository type, and which can be used as the front-end client for applications, such as IBM Datacap, that do not store content in a repository.
  • An IBM CMIS web application that can connect to one of the following types of repositories:
    • IBM Content Manager repositories
    • IBM Content Manager OnDemand repositories
    • IBM FileNet Content Manager repositories
  • An IBM FileNet Collaboration Services web application.
Depending on the type of web application server that you are deploying to, you can combine some of the components into a single EAR file. However, it is recommended that you do not deploy an application that contains multiple web applications because it can impact the performance and scalability of the application. The IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment tool allows you to deploy the following combinations:

Remember: Some components are not supported on all of the supported web application servers. For example, web applications that connect to IBM Content Manager repositories are not supported on Oracle WebLogic Server or JBoss Application Server. For more information, see Planning for your web application server.
The configuration tasks that you must complete depend on the following factors:
  • The type of application that you are deploying
  • The type of web application server that you are deploying to
  • The type of repositories that you are connecting to

The IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool displays the tasks that you must complete based on the selections that you make when you create your configuration profile. Complete the appropriate tasks for your environment:
