Installing IBM Content Navigator Web Parts on a Microsoft SharePoint server

On the Microsoft SharePoint server, install IBM® Content Navigator Web Parts to enable integration between IBM Content Navigator and Microsoft SharePoint.

About this task

You can install IBM Content Navigator Web Parts with an installation program, or you can use a command-line program to do a silent installation. You can find instructions for silent installation in the icnsp_silent_install.txt text file in ICNSP203_Windows.zip.

Procedure

To install IBM Content Navigator Web Parts interactively:

  1. On the Microsoft SharePoint server, go to the directory where you downloaded the product and double-click IBM_CONTENT_NAVIGATOR_for_Microsoft_SharePoint-2.0.3-WIN.EXE.
  2. Follow the instructions in the installation tool to complete the installation.

What to do next

You can check whether the installation completed successfully by following these steps:
  1. In Microsoft SharePoint on the Central Administration page, click System Settings.
  2. On the System Settings page, in the Farm Management section, click Manage Farm Solutions. If the installation completed successfully, the deployed solutions list includes the icnwebparts.wsp file with a status of Deployed.
Tip:

The IBM Content Navigator URL and Desktop ID that you specify are used to generate the default URL when you add a Web Part to your Microsoft SharePoint pages. To use the IBM Content Navigator default portal desktop, keep the default value of portal. If you want to use a custom portal desktop instead, enter the ID that was generated for your custom portal desktop.

You can override the default desktop on a specific Microsoft SharePoint page by using the desktop parameter in the Web Part URL. However, if you want to change the default desktop to a different desktop, you must first uninstall IBM Content Navigator Web Parts on your Microsoft SharePoint server. Then, reinstall IBM Content Navigator Web Parts and specify a different desktop ID.
