IBM® Content
Navigator includes
two predefined workflows that you can use in conjunction with or instead
of custom IBM FileNet® P8 workflows.
To use the workflows, you must transfer the workflows into your workflow
system.
Before you begin
You must enable users to add and transfer workflows through
IBM Content
Navigator before you complete
this task.
About this task
You must complete this task only if you plan
to use predefined workflows in IBM Content
Navigator.
The predefined
workflows that are included with the
IBM Content
Navigator installation media are
designed to facilitate document reviews.
IBM Content
Navigator provides the following
predefined workflows:
- Parallel document approval workflow
- The parallel document approval workflow enables users to assign
a document review to multiple reviewers at the same time. The reviewers
can access and approve the document any time during the review period,
and no one reviewer depends on another person to finish a review first
because the reviews run concurrently.
- Sequential document approval workflow
- The sequential document approval workflow enables users to assign
a document review to a group of reviewers in a specific order. No
reviewer can start their review until the previous reviewer approves
the document.
Tip: The predefined workflows are also
used in IBM Content
Navigator for Microsoft Office. If
you configured the workflows for IBM Content
Navigator for Microsoft Office, you do not need to
complete this task again.
The workflows are included in the
operating_system\workflows subdirectory
of the
IBM Content
Navigator installation
media and in the
Office\Workflows subdirectory
of the
IBM Content
Navigator for Microsoft Office installation
media:
- ICNParallelDocumentApproval.pep
- ICNSequentialDocumentApproval.pep
Procedure
To add the predefined workflows to the repository:
- Add the workflow definitions to the repository:
- Log into IBM Content
Navigator as
a user with access to the workflow definition class.
- Open the Browse view or the Search view
in the web client and select the repository where you want to add
the workflow definition files.
- Start the add document process for the workflow definition
files:
- ICNParallelDocumentApproval.pep
- ICNSequentialDocumentApproval.pep
- Ensure that the Workflow Definition class
is selected.
- Select the Major version option.
- Click Add.
- Transfer the workflows:
- Locate the workflow definition files in the repository.
- Right click each workflow and select Transfer
Workflow.
- In the Transfer Workflow window,
ensure that Use this workflow name is selected.
Click Tranfer.
