IBM Content Navigator, Version 2.0.3     Supports:  Content Manager, FileNet P8, OnDemand, OASIS CMIS

Configuring the icons that are displayed in the web client

You can change the icons that are displayed for document MIME types and item states. For example, MIME types indicate the type of document, such PDF or HTML. Item states indicate whether a document is checked out, on hold, and is bookmarked. The changes that you make apply to all of the desktops in your environment.

About this task

IBM® Content Navigator provides predefined icons for MIME types and item states. You can map MIME types and item states to the predefined icons, or you can map them to custom icons. You might want to customize the icons to match icons that are used in your organization or select predefined icons that are familiar to your users. For example, if your organization has a previously customized PDF icon, you can map the PDF MIME type to that PDF icon.

If your company uses Microsoft Office applications, you can map the MIME types for the Office applications so that users can see those icons on their desktop.

Procedure

To configure icons:

  1. Open the administration tool for the web client.
  2. Click Settings > Icon Mapping. Do one of the following options:
    • Click New Icon Mapping or select an existing MIME type and click Edit to map a MIME type to a predefined icon or to a custom icon.
    • Select an existing state icon and then click Edit to map the state of an item to a predefined icon or to a custom icon.
  3. Save the settings.
