The connection to the repository enables your users to access the repository from their desktops and locate the items that they need.
About this task
After you establish a connection, you can configure the repository by configuring items such as icons that are displayed when documents are in a specific state or configuring search results. If you change the connection information on the General page, such as the server name, you must reconnect to the repository to confirm that the changes you made did not break the connection.

add the repository to the appropriate desktops in your environment.
