IBM® Collaboration
Services allows
direct storage and access to content in IBM FileNet® P8 by using client applications
such as IBM Connections.
An organization with IBM FileNet Collaboration Services middleware
can connect the content repository with office software, such as IBM Connections, that manages business
data and documents.
IBM FileNet Collaboration Services provides the
following features:
- Mid-tier APIs for Enterprise Content Management
- Provides services interfaces that are used by IBM Connections
to manage documents in the Enterprise Content Manager repository
- IBM Connections integration
with IBM FileNet Content Manager
- IBM FileNet Content Manager can be used
as the native backend repository for community library content.
- Productivity enhancements
- To improve productivity, some IBM FileNet Collaboration Services client users can complete
team-specific directory and permissions tasks on the content repository.
Designated IBM Connections team
members can independently create and manage appropriate library content
and access.
- Integration with IBM Content
Navigator
- Teams can access documents and other items from IBM Content
Navigator. For example, IBM Content
Navigator teamspaces can be exposed
as linked libraries in IBM Connections.
- Integration with IBM Connections community
owners
- This integration can expose existing Enterprise Content Manager
content or content that is managed primarily in IBM Content
Navigator in a IBM Connections community.
For example, IBM Connections community
owners can self-provision document libraries in IBM FileNet P8 that automatically provide
the correct level of access to community members. Community members
can tag, comment on, recommend and share content, view and act on
document library events in their Connections updates stream, and search
for documents alongside other Connections content.
