IBM® CMIS is a web application that enables client applications that use the OASIS Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) standard to work with content that is stored on repositories.
The OASIS CMIS standard enables client applications to work with multiple content management systems by defining a standard domain model and standard set of services and protocol bindings for Web Services and RESTful Atom Publishing Protocol (AtomPub). Each content management system implements OASIS CMIS standards differently.
The CMIS standard opens new possibilities for customers to easily and effectively integrate IBM Enterprise Content Management products. CMIS makes it easier to integrate IBM Enterprise Content Management products into existing installations of Microsoft SharePoint, SAP, and other participating vendors. CMIS does not replace the extensive API capabilities of IBM Enterprise Content Management portfolio products.
