Password rules

When choosing a password, be aware that your password can be up to 8 characters on Linux and UNIX operating systems, and up to 14 characters on Windows operating systems.

Starting in Version 9.7 Fix Pack 1, the length of your password can be up to the maximum number of characters supported by your operating system.

Some operating systems might have more password rules, such as minimum length and simplicity, and some operating systems can be configured to use different password encryption algorithms. See the appropriate operating system documentation for more information.
