Installation requirements for DB2 Warehouse

Before you install DB2® Warehouse ensure that DB2 software is installed, you have the required disk space, you have the correct user authorities, and that you have the connection information available for your existing database.

Disk space

During installation, check the Pre-installation Summary pane to ensure that you have the following amounts of free disk space:
  • 1.5 GB temporary space for running the DB2 Warehouse installation program.
  • 2.0 GB permanent space for the installation directory of the data server components.
  • 1.0 GB permanent space for the installation directory of the application server components.
  • 1.0 GB permanent space for the installation directory of the client components.

User authorities

Ensure that you have the following user authorities:

To install the data server components

On Windows, you must have administrator authority.

On Linux and UNIX, you must have root authority.

To install the application server components

On Windows, you must have administrator authority.

On Linux and UNIX, you must have root authority.

To install the warehouse client components

On Windows, you must have administrator authority or elevated privileges.

Hardware and Software

The following minimum level of DB2 software is required: DB2 Version 9.7 Fix Pack 4 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows

As the installation program initializes, it determines whether the Installation Manager is installed on your system. If it is not, it is installed. If a copy of Installation Manager is found that is lower then version 1.7, then that copy is updated.

Note: On Windows 7 32-bit platforms, Windows 8 32-bit platforms, and Linux X86 32-bit platforms the server images are for nonproduction use only. 32-bit platforms are intended for development and test only.
