DB2 Connect Version 10.5 fix pack summary

DB2® Version 10.5 fix packs includes important changes to existing features and additional features that might affect DB2 Connect™ usage.

You can download DB2 Connect fix packs from the DB2 Fix Packs by version page (https://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27007053). Use this page to download a DB2 fix pack for the installed DB2 product you have. The link to each fix pack includes the APAR Fix List.

If you did not apply the Version 10.5 fix packs or did not update your local Information Center since Version 10.5 was available, you should review the following topics to understand the technical changes included in the Version 10.5 fix packs that might affect DB2 Connect. Fix packs are cumulative, they contain all of the changes and functionality shipped in previous fix packs.

DB2 Version 10.5 Fix Pack 5

DB2 Version 10.5 Fix Pack 5 contains the functionality of the previous fix pack and includes the following enhancements:

DB2 Cancun Release 10.5.0.4

DB2 Cancun Release 10.5.0.4 contains the functionality of the previous fix pack and includes the following enhancements:
  • The CLI driver that is included with this fix pack contains several enhancements. For more information, see Call level interface (CLI) driver enhancements.
  • The IBM Data Server Provider for .NET that is included with this fix pack contains several enhancements. For more information, see IBM Data Server Provider for .NET enhancements and features.
  • Use of array variables in INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE statements are supported by embedded SQL applications. See Compatibility features for migration
  • You can skip local code page conversion for the graphic data types in embedded SQL application with the SkipLocalCPConversionForWcharConvert IBM data server driver configuration keyword. See SkipLocalCPConversionForWcharConvert IBM data server driver configuration keyword.
  • You can now obtain the details of all statement handles that were allocated by the CLI driver prior to enabling a DB2 trace. To obtain this information, the db2trc trace utility can be enabled with the -dumpstmt option. See db2trc - Trace command.
  • The db2cli command now provides the DB2 connect license information with the -displaylic option. See db2cli - DB2 interactive CLI command.
  • The db2cli command now tests the connection to DB2 for z/OS® or DB2 for i server with the server-side DB2 connect license when the -useserverlic option is specified. See db2cli - DB2 interactive CLI command.
  • You can now format the DB2 trace that is taken with the -cli option to a directory, where separate trace files are created for each process id and thread id. See db2trc - Trace command.
  • The db2cli command now tests a data source name (DSN) connection with an ODBC driver manager when the -odbcdsn option is specified. See db2cli - DB2 interactive CLI command.
  • The db2connectactivate utility includes the following new features that make it easier to use:
    • An option that lets you check whether there is an existing DB2 Connect license on a DB2 for z/OS or DB2 for i server.
    • Messages that indicate whether a license installation was successful.
    • For license upgrades, messages that include the old and new license versions.
