DB2 10.5 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows

Online fix pack updates in a DB2 pureScale environment improves availability

You can now apply online fix pack updates to your DB2® pureScale® environment while your DB2 instance remains available. You can use online fix pack updates to apply a fix pack release or a special build.

Starting with DB2 Version 10.5, when you apply an online fix pack update, you can update one host in the cluster at a time while the remaining database servers continue to process transactions. After a host is updated, it can resume processing. This new procedure to apply fix packs provides a way to update your DB2 pureScale instance while maintaining continuous availability.

To apply a fix pack in previous releases, the DB2 pureScale instance had to be offline. In DB2 Version 10.5, offline fix pack updates are also supported.

Use the new ENV_GET_INSTANCE_CODE_LEVELS table function to obtain information about an online fix pack update in progress such as the state, the architecture level, and the code level of instances, members, and CFs.

To support online fix pack updates, new parameters were added to the following existing commands: For details about the new parameters, see DB2 command and SQL statement changes summary.
The following audit events for the SYSADMIN category were added:
