Collating sequences
The database manager compares character data using a collating
sequence. This is an ordering for a set of characters that determines
whether a particular character sorts higher, lower, or the same as
another.
Choosing a collation for a Unicode database
The collation of a database determines how string values
are compared and ordered. DB2® provides
three different types of collations for a Unicode database: IDENTITY
collation, language-aware collation, and locale-sensitive UCA-based
collation.
Unicode Collation Algorithm based collations
The CREATE DATABASE command and
the COLLATION_KEY_BIT scalar function support the CLDR181 collation
keyword. This keyword implements the UCA (Unicode Collation Algorithm)
specified in the Unicode Standard and based on the Common Locale Data
Repository (CLDR).
