IBM InfoSphere Federation Server, Version 10.1

Upgrading federation

Version 10.1 of IBM® InfoSphere® Federation Server supports upgrades from Version 9.1, Version 9.5, and Version 9.7.

About this task

The following migration paths are supported from previous versions to Version 10.1:
  • Version 9.5 to Version 10.1
  • Version 9.7 to Version 10.1
For a release before Version 9.5, you must upgrade from the earlier release to Version 9.5 or Version 9.7, and then upgrade to Version 10.1.

Upgrading to a Version 10.1 federated server on a system where you installed a previous version requires that you first upgrade the system to Version 10.1. When you upgrade instances and databases to Version 10.1, federated objects are upgraded also. After upgrading, some tasks are required to upgrade your data sources.

When federated server instances and databases are upgraded, some objects are updated so that they perform properly in a federated system. These changes include updates to client libraries and file paths. The following objects are upgraded:

If your DB2® environment has other components such as DB2 servers, clients, and database applications. See Upgrading to DB2 Version 10.1 for details about how to upgrade these components.

Procedure

  1. Plan your federation upgrade.
  2. Upgrade a federated server.
  3. Perform post-upgrade tasks.
