Control Center tools have been discontinued

The Control Center tools and all related components such as wizards and advisors are discontinued. A new suite of GUI tools for managing DB2® for Linux, UNIX, and Windows data and data-centric applications is now available and can be used instead.

As a result, there are commands and response file keywords for DB2 installation that are also discontinued. The following associated DB2 commands are discontinued:

For Query Patroller, the response file keywords that are discontinued are listed at Query Patroller has been discontinued.

Important: Use of the Control Center tools Version 9.7 or earlier to connect to Version 10.1 databases is not supported. If you set the location to access the Version 10.1 DB2 Information Center by changing the DB2_DOCHOST variable, the online help for Control Center tools Version 9.7 or earlier is not available.

Resolution

Use the AUTOCONFIGURE command to get recommendations from the configuration advisor. Although the wizard interface for the configuration advisor is discontinued, the configuration advisor is still available by using the AUTOCONFIGURE command.

Use the db2advis command to get recommendations from the design advisor. The wizard interface for the design advisor is also discontinued, but the design advisor is still available using the db2advis command.

IBM® Data Studio and IBM Optim™ tools perform similar tasks that you used to perform with the Control Center tools. These recommended tools provide enhanced features for those tasks. Use any of the following tools in place of the Control Center tools:

IBM InfoSphere® Data Architect
InfoSphere Optim Configuration Manager
IBM InfoSphere Optim Performance Manager
IBM InfoSphere Optim Performance Manager Extended Edition

IBM Data Studio is included in all the DB2 database product editions. IBM InfoSphere Optim Performance Manager is included with the DB2 Advanced Enterprise Server Edition or IBM InfoSphere Warehouse.
