Installation and upgrade enhancements

Version 10.1 includes enhancements that make it faster to deploy products and easier to maintain them.

Installation commands have been enhanced
Several installation-related commands have been enhanced to provide additional flexibility in installing and maintaining your DB2® environment.
New response file keywords have been added
You can use new keywords during unattended installations that use response files.
New db2prereqcheck command checks prerequisites before starting an installation
You can use the db2prereqcheck command to check whether your system meets the prerequisites for the installation of a specific DB2 version.
DB2 License compliance report enhanced
The license compliance report now indicates which product and feature caused the violation.
DB2 pureScale Feature included in DB2 server edition installations
In DB2 Version 10, you can install the IBM® DB2 pureScale® Feature while installing DB2 Enterprise Server Edition, DB2 Workgroup Server Edition, and DB2 Advanced Enterprise Server Edition.
DB2 Spatial Extender is now included in the DB2 database product media
The DB2 Spatial Extender initial installation and fix pack application are now simplified by requiring one single installation media.
Installation of IBM Data Studio integrated into the DB2 installation process
Following the installation of your DB2 product, you can now install IBM Data Studio from the DB2 Launchpad.
