Tailoring DB2 jobs to your environment using the installation CLIST
The installation CLIST displays a series
of ISPF panels that prompt you to supply parameter values or accept
the supplied default values. In most cases, the fields on the ISPF
panels correspond with DB2® subsystem
parameters.
About this task
The values that you enter or accept on the ISPF panels describe the operating characteristics of your DB2 system. If you change the default values when you install DB2 or when you migrate to a newer release, the CLIST verifies that the values that you enter are within the allowable ranges. After a successful installation or migration, you can subsequently update these values to improve your operations.
Running the
installation CLIST also prepares the jobs that are required for installation
or migration. The CLIST tailors each installation or migration job
according to the values that you specify on the ISPF panels.
Tip: You
can capture most settings of an existing DB2 subsystem by running the DSNTIJXZ job,
which invokes the DSNTXAZP tool. Running this job reduces the effort to manually compare settings in
the current DSNTIJUZ job with the values that are defined in the defaults input member. For details,

Important: If you use the installation CLIST,
do not change any members in your prefix.SDSNSAMP

To use the ISPF panels, you must first make the DB2 ISPF library available to TSO and then invoke the installation CLIST DSNTINST in ISPF mode. Save the output that the panel session produces to use later. - Directory of subsystem parameters, panel fields, and application default values
Subsystem, installation panel fields, and application default values are settings that apply to an entire DB2 subsystem. Most but not all subsystem parameters correspond to installation panel fields. Also, some panel fields do not correspond to a subsystem parameter. - Subsystem parameters that are not on installation panels
Some subsystem parameters are defined by job DSNTIJUZ and are not associated with fields on any installation panels. - Subsystem parameter module and application defaults module values
The subsystem parameter module is generated by job DSNTIJUZ each time that you install, migrate, or update DB2. - DSNTIPA1: Main panel
The entries on the Main panel control input to and output from the installation CLIST. - DSNTIPO1: OTC license usage panel
Use the DSNTIPO1 panel to indicate whether DB2 is to operate under a one-time license charge. This panel is displayed only if you purchased DB2 10 for z/OS® Value Unit Edition (FMID JDBAA1Z) for use with z/OS on zNALC. - DSNTIPO2: Notice and acceptance of OTC license panel
Panel DSNTIPO2 is displayed only when you indicate on panel DSNTIPO1 (OTC license usage) that an OTC license is or will be in effect on this DB2 subsystem or data sharing member. - DSNTIPA2: DB2 catalog and directory panel
The entries on the DSNTIPA2 panel define the name of the ICF catalog for DB2 VSAM data sets and indicate whether to create
the specified catalog. The entries also define z/OS Storage Management Subsystem (SMS) classes that
are to be used when defining data sets for the DB2 catalog and directory. - DSNTIPA3: Data parameters panel:
The entries on the DSNTIPA3 panel define the storage management preferences for the storage groups and data sets that are created during installation and migration. - DSNTIPK: Define group or member panel
The DSNTIPK panel follows panel DSNTIPA2 when you select a data sharing function (GROUP, MEMBER, or ENABLE). - DSNTIPH: System resource data set names panel
The entries on the DSNTIPH panel specify the names of bootstrap data sets, active logs, and archive logs. These entries also specify the number of copies (1 for single logging or 2 for dual logging) for the active and archive logs. - DSNTIPT: Data set names panel 1
The entries on the DSNTIPT panel establish data set names for the libraries that are used in the DB2 CLIST and JCL that DB2 provides. The values that you enter on this panel are edited into all pertinent sample and installation jobs. - DSNTIPU: Data set names panel 2
The entries on panels DSNTIPU and DSNTIPW establish data set names for other product libraries. The values that you enter on these panels are edited into sample and installation jobs. Accept the default values for products that you do not have. Jobs for those particular products should not be run. - DSNTIPW: Data set names panel 3
The entries on the DSNTIPW panel establish data set names for the libraries of other products in your system. The values that are entered on this panel are edited into all pertinent sample and installation jobs. - DSNTIPD: Sizes panel 1
The entries on the DSNTIPD panel establish the size of the DB2 catalog, directory, and log data sets. Entries on the DSNTIPD panel also define the amount of storage that can be used for storing large object (LOB) values. - DSNTIP7: Sizes panel 2
The first two entries on the DSNTIP7 panel define default values for the system-required objects that DB2 creates automatically. DB2 uses these options for any indexes or table spaces that it implicitly creates. The remaining fields provide general default settings for creating table spaces. - DSNTIP9: Work file database panel
The fields on the DSNTIP9 panel configure the 4 KB and 32 KB page size table spaces in the DB2 work file database. - DSNTIPE: Thread management panel
The entries on the DSNTIPE panel determine main storage sizes. - DSNTIP1: Buffer pool sizes panel 1
The DSNTIP1 panel is the first of two panels on which you can specify the size of your virtual buffer pools. - DSNTIP2: Buffer pool sizes panel 2
The DSNTIP2 panel is the second of the two panels that enables you to specify the size of your virtual buffer pools. - DSNTIPN: Tracing parameters panel
The entries on the DSNTIPN panel affect the audit, global, accounting, and monitor traces and the checkpoint frequency. - DSNTIPO: Operator functions panel
The entries on the DSNTIPO panel affect various operator functions. These functions include write-to-operator route codes, automatic recall, and the maximum amount of CPU time that is to be allocated for a dynamic SQL statement. - DSNTIPO3: Default startup modules panel
The DSNTIPO3 panel enables you to specify the default member names of certain modules that are to be loaded at DB2 startup. These modules are the subsystem parameter module, the application defaults module, and the exit modules. - DSNTIPF: Application programming defaults panel 1
The entries on the DSNTIPF panel and the DSNTIP4 panel define application programming default values. These values are used as default values by the program preparation panels, the program preparation CLIST (DSNH), and the precompiler. These values can also be used as default values by other programs, such as QMF™. - DSNTIP4: Application programming defaults panel 2
The DSNTIP4 panel is a continuation of the DSNTIPF panel, and it is used to set application programming default values. The values that you specify on this panel are used as default values by the program preparation panels, the program preparation CLIST (DSNH), and the precompiler. - DSNTIP8: Performance and optimization panel
The DSNTIP8 panel is a continuation of the DSNTIP4 panel. It is used to set application programming default values pertaining to performance and optimization. - DSNTIPI: IRLM panel 1
The entries on the DSNTIPI panel affect the installation of the internal resource lock manager (IRLM). - DSNTIPJ: IRLM panel 2
The entries on the DSNTIPJ panel affect several characteristics of IRLM time-sharing fields and other locking options. - DSNTIP6: DB2 utilities parameters panel 1
The fields on the DSNTIP6 panel configure the default behavior of enhancements to the BACKUP SYSTEM, RESTORE SYSTEM, RECOVER, and other utilities. - DSNTIP61: DB2 utilities parameters panel 2
The fields on the DSNTIP61 panel are used to configure the default behavior of various DB2 utilities. - DSNTIPP: Protection panel

Use the DSNTIPP1 panel to specify security options, including the authorization IDs that are required for system administrators and system operators, and the authorization IDs or roles that are required for security administrators. You can also specify the authorization IDs that are to be used to install, configure, and validate DB2-supplied routines. - DSNTIPM: MVS PARMLIB updates panel
The entries on the DSNTIPM panel produce the DSNTIJMV job, which defines DB2 to z/OS and updates several PARMLIB members. - DSNTIPL: Active log data set parameters
The entries on the DSNTIPL panel define characteristics of active log data sets. - DSNTIPL1: Checkpoint parameters
The entries on the DSNTIPL1 panel define characteristics for log checkpoints. - DSNTIPA: Archive log data set parameters panel

The entries on the DSNTIPS panel name the databases, table spaces, and index spaces to restart automatically when you start DB2. - DSNTIPR: Distributed data facility panel 1
The entries on the DSNTIPR panel control the starting of the distributed data facility (DDF). The entries on the DSNTIPR panel also specify location names that are used to connect another DB2 subsystem. - DSNTIP5: Distributed data facility panel 2
The entries on the DSNTIP5 panel are used to configure the distributed data facility (DDF). - DSNTIPX: Routine parameters panel
The entries on this panel are used to start the stored procedures address space so that it can run stored procedures or user-defined functions. - DSNTIPR1: Parameters for DB2-supplied routines panel
The DSNTIPR1 panel enables you to establish default WLM environment names for DB2-supplied routines and to access panels for advanced configuration of these routines. - DSNTIPZ: Data definition control support panel
The entries on the DSNTIPZ panel allow you to install and tailor data definition control support. - DSNTIPY: Job editing panel
The entries on the DSNTIPY panel specify values and information about job statements for the installation and sample application jobs. - DSNTIPC: CLIST calculations panel 1
The DSNTIPC panel displays the messages that the installation CLIST issues to indicate calculated storage sizes. - DSNTIPC1: CLIST calculations panel 2
The DSNTIPC1 panel displays CLIST messages that indicate a variety of calculations. This panel is displayed only when you run the CLIST in INSTALL mode. - Completing the CLIST processing
On the last panel that displays CLIST calculations, you can complete CLIST processing by pressing Enter. In INSTALL mode, this panel is DSNTIPC1. In MIGRATE mode, this panel is DSNTIPC. After pressing Enter, you receive a series of messages that provide details about the CLIST processing. - Updating subsystem parameter and application default values
You can dynamically update the value of some subsystem parameters while DB2 is running. For other subsystem parameters, you must stop and restart DB2 to change the values.
