Support for a communications network
After you install DB2, you can install support for a communications network.
Support for Java
If you plan to use Java, or any function that is dependent on Java, you need to install support for it.
Installing the Unified Debugger session manager on a z/OS system
The session manager can handle communications between a debug client, such as the debug client of IBM® Data Studio, and a DB2 for z/OS® data server. The session manager can run on the client on which the Unified Debugger is installed, or on a z/OS system. For better performance when you debug DB2 for z/OS routines, you can install the session manager on a z/OS system.
Installing a second DB2 subsystem on the same operating system
If you are considering installing a second DB2 subsystem on the same operating system, first see the implications of a second DB2 subsystem.
Enabling multiple DB2 subsystems to share disk storage
If you use a non-data sharing environment, you can enable multiple DB2 subsystems to share disk storage. If you use a data sharing environment, the logs must be on shared disk storage.
Data loading from remote locations
You can use an SQL cursor with the LOAD utility to load data from a remote location.
Special packages and plans for SPUFI
Special packages and plans for SPUFI are required in some situations.
