Additional information about the use of DB2® utilities can help you use the utilities effectively. For example, knowing about various advisory or restrictive states can be very helpful in working with DB2 utilities.

Limits in DB2 for z/OS
DB2 for z/OS has system limits, object and SQL limits, length limits for identifiers and strings, and limits for certain data type values.
Supplied stored procedures for utility operations
DB2 provides some stored procedures that you can call in application programs to perform a number of utility functions. Typically, these procedures are created during installation or migration.
Advisory or restrictive states
To control access and help ensure data integrity, DB2 sets a restrictive or nonrestrictive (advisory) status on certain objects. However, you can take steps to correct each status.
