Setting workbench preferences

You can customize your preferences in the Eclipse workbench from InfoSphere® Streams Studio.

About this task

Eclipse workbench preferences are used to set how you want the workbench functions to operate. The preferences are part of the Eclipse workbench preferences and are used each time that you start to configure your workbench. Certain workbench preferences are useful for InfoSphere Streams development. For information on the Eclipse preferences and how to set them, refer to the Eclipse documentation and look under Workbench > Basics > Reference > Preferences.

To set workbench preferences, follow this procedure:

Procedure

  1. From the Streams Studio toolbar, select Window > Preferences.
  2. Expand or select the node that you want to modify and set in the Preferences window.
  3. The following is a subset of the common preferences that you can set in the Preferences window.
    1. Always run in background: General. Controls whether Eclipse jobs always run in the background. If you no longer see job status windows, clearing this option allows the job status windows to start displaying.
    2. Show line numbers in the editor: General > Editors > Text Editors.
    3. Make InfoSphere Streams the default perspective: General > Perspectives.
    4. Use an internal web browser. General > Web Browser.
    5. Automatically build the workspace: General > Workspace.
    6. Workspace save interval: General > Workspace.
    7. Open help in the external browser: General > Help.
    8. Add information centers to help: General > Help > Content.
