You cannot directly upgrade Rational Integration Tester and Rational Test Control Panel packages from any of the earlier versions to 8.7. You must uninstall the existing version including the Rational Integration Tester Platform Pack and then install the version 8.7 package. For install instructions, see Installing the product software.
You can upgrade Rational Integration Tester and Rational Test Control Panel packages from any release of the 8.7 versions directly to 8.7.1 version.
Before you upgrade, back up the Rational Test Control Panel workspace. After you upgrade, you cannot roll back your installation to the earlier version.
To preserve your Rational Test Control Panel workspace (published stubs, user configuration, domains, and environments) when you uninstall the previous version, ensure that you do not select the option to remove the workspace. When you install the latest version, ensure that the workspace directory is set to the same location as your existing workspace.
The uninstallation process of Rational Test Control Panel version 8.5 and later specifies the location of the workspace directory. Make note of this directory.
For Rational Test Control Panel versions earlier than 8.5, the uninstaller do not provide this information.
To determine the workspace location, open the container.server.properties file that is available in Rational Test Control Panel installation directory\usr\servers\RTCPServer\apps\RTCP.war\WEB-INF\classes directory to determine the workspace location.
From version 8.5.1 onwards, Rational Test Control Panel includes IBM WebSphere® Application Server Liberty Profile instead of Apache Tomcat as the application server. As a result of this change, the library location for the Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL drivers is changed.
If you use MySQL or SQL Server as the results database, after you upgrade from releases of 8.5.0 version to version 8.5.1 or later, add the JDBC drivers to the V8.5.1 and later library location.
For information about adding the drivers and the driver locations, see Adding Microsoft(tm) SQL Server and MySQL drivers
If you do not add the drivers after the upgrade, you cannot access the results database stored in SQL Server or MySQL databases.
