Managing licenses

IBM® Rational® Test Workbench products are installed with a 30-day trial license by default. You must upgrade the trial licenses to permanent licenses before the expiry of the 30-day trial period. Use the IBM Installation Manager Manage Licenses wizard to administer your licenses.

Whether you are installing the software for the first time or want to extend a license to continue using the product, you have the following two options to enable licensing for your product:

Importing a product activation kit.
Enabling Rational Common Licensing to obtain access to floating license key.

Installing a product activation kit
If you purchased authorized licenses for your IBM Rational product, you must obtain and install product activation kits before the expiry of the trial licenses. The product activation kits contain permanent licenses for your purchased products.
Enabling floating licenses
If you are using floating licenses, you can configure your product to point to a license server that serves the floating licenses. Use the IBM Installation Manager Manage Licenses wizard to configure your product to point to a license server.
Viewing license information for installed packages
You can review license information for your installed packages, including license types and expiration dates, from IBM Installation Manager.
