In the Rational® Test
Control Panel setup, HTTPS is disabled by default. In a secure
environment, you might want to use HTTPS communication with Rational Test Control
Panel. This topic provides instructions on how to generate a self-signed
certificate for quick and easy implementation and how to configure Rational Test Control
Panel to use SSL.
By default, the keys generated by using this procedure are not
trusted by web browsers. Accept any prompt you receive
for ignoring a security exception. If you already have
a company-trusted certificate authority, you should use an
alternative certificate generation mechanism. The instructions
for the configuration hold valid regardless of the process
used for generating the certificates.
The configuration process has the following tasks:
- Configuring Rational Test Control Panel to
use HTTPS
- Configuring each component that communicates with Rational Test Control Panel,
for example, Rational
Integration Tester and Rational Integration Tester Agent (RIT-Agent)
to use HTTPS
Important: When you configure the integration between Rational Test Virtualization
Server and Rational Quality
Manager (that uses HTTPS communication) for deploying
virtual services, ensure that
Rational Test Control Panel also
uses HTTPS by following the procedures described in this section.
