The message editor

This common part of the IBM® Rational® Integration Tester user interface is a powerful way of navigating through and, in some instances, modifying a message.
It consists of two parts:

The message editor toolbar

Use this toolbar to do the following:
  • Expand the currently selected node.
  • Collapse the currently selected node.
  • Navigate to the previous interesting node.
  • Navigate to the next interesting node.
  • Open the tag data store.

The ability to determine which nodes are interesting is controlled by the Enable initial interesting node expansion Message project preference.

The message editor body

The editor body shows a hierarchical view of the nodes and fields in a message. Use the Ctrl+F keys to open the Find editor and search for fields in the message body.

What makes a node interesting?

IBM Rational Integration Tester determines what is interesting. It varies depending on the context.

In the context of case action, stub input action, consumer actions (subscribe, receive request, receive reply), and producer actions (publisher, send request, send reply) , the following nodes are considered interesting:
