Setting up routing rules

You can use the Intelligent Management for web servers feature of the Web Server Plug-ins for IBM® WebSphere® Application Server to route to the same application in multiple cells. You can also route to a subset of available servers.

Before you begin

You cannot use the Routing Rules feature without fix pack 8.5.5.12 or later and web server plug-in for 9.0.0.3 or later. You need to install a web server that is supported by the Intelligent Management for web servers feature of the web server plug-in, such as the IBM HTTP Server. Then, install a 9.0.0.3 or later plug-in for WebSphere Application Server.

1. Download and install the most recent version of the IBM Installation Manager.
2. Use the Installation Manager to access online product repositories to install the Web Server Plug-in for WebSphere Application Server along with the fix pack. Open the Installation Manager GUI preferences page by selecting File > Preferences .
3. Use the Installation Manager to install the product from the web-based repository. You need an IBM ID to access the following repository:

4. Install fix pack 9.0.0.3 web server plug-ins by using the Install wizard.
5. When prompted by the wizard, specify the installation location and proceed with the installation.
