If you create a pluglet, you must
register the pluglet in the workspace before you can use the pluglet.
You must register pluglets that you create in external tools and within
the workbench environment.
Pluglets in your workspace are
automatically registered when you open the Run Pluglet menu the first
time during a workbench session. You can disable the automatic registration
by resetting the option on the Pluglets preference page. Pluglets
that you add to your workspace after you open the Run Pluglet menu
must be registered by using the procedure described in this document.
Before you begin
- If you created a pluglet with an external tool (such as a stand-alone
version of the Eclipse Integrated Development Environment), you must
copy or move the pluglet to your workspace directory before you can
register it.
For example, copy the .java file
from the C:\pluglets directory to the C:\Documents
and Settings\user_ID\IBM\rationaldsp\workspace where your
data design projects and data models are located.
Note: In order
to register a pluglet, the pluglet must use the com.ibm.datatools.pluglets.ui.DataPluglet interface.
- You must be in the Data perspective before you register your pluglet.
Procedure
To register a pluglet with the workspace:
- Right-click any data model or data object in your workspace,
then select .
- Click OK to register any pluglets
Note: Once you click OK, the message
that details how pluglets are discovered is not displayed again until
you restart your workspace.
Results
The pluglet is registered with your workspace. You can
now run the pluglet.
If the pluglet uses an existing task group,
the pluglet will be registered with that task group. For example,
if the pluglet uses the Model Tasks task group,
the pluglet will appear under the menu.
If the
pluglet does not use an existing task group, the pluglet is added
to the context menu.
