Administering your monitoring environment
After you install IBM® Business Monitor, you can use the WebSphere® Application Server administrative console to perform administrative tasks, based on your login information (access rights) for WebSphere Application Server.
To deploy Business Monitor models, you can use either the WebSphere Application Server administrative console or scripts.
In the navigation pane of the WebSphere Application Server administrative console, under Applications, the nodes for Monitor Models, Data Movement Service, Monitor Action Services, and Recorded Event Management are displayed.
- In the Monitor Models node, you can manage your monitor models. For example, you can deploy a specific version of the model on the Business Monitor server and specify configuration properties.
- In the Data Movement Service node, you can enable a process that periodically copies data from the operational tables to the reporting tables and removes terminated instances from the operational tables.
- In the Monitor Action Services node, you can access the Monitor Action Services to define an action for a situation event and bind that action to the event.
- In the Recorded Event Management node, you can start and stop event recording. You can also delete, export, and import events, and play back events that you recorded.
- In the Troubleshooting node, you can perform Business Monitor logging and tracing tasks. For example, you can specify how the server handles log records and the location of log data. You can also select a format for the log content, and you can specify the log detail level for components and groups of components.
