Installing

An IBM® UrbanCode™ Build installation consists of the IBM UrbanCode Build server, a database, and at least one agent.

About this task

Typically, the server, database, and agents are installed on separate computers. However, for a simple evaluation, they can all be installed on the same computer.
Installing IBM UrbanCode Build typically involves these general steps:
  1. Review the system requirements. See System requirements.
  2. Install a Rational® Common Licensing server. See http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSSTWP_8.1.4/com.ibm.rational.license.doc/topics/c_managing_lic.html.
  3. Add licenses to the server. For more information about the available licenses, see License management.
  4. If you are using a database other than Apache Derby, install the database before you install the server. See Installing the database. Apache Derby is appropriate for evaluation installations only. If you choose Apache Derby, the server installation steps install Derby automatically, so you do not have to install it manually.
  5. Install the server. See Installing the server in interactive mode.
  6. Install one or more agents. See Installing agents from the command line.
  7. Start the server. See Accessing IBM UrbanCode Build.
  8. Optional: Install plug-ins. See Installing plug-ins.
