Creating an authentication alias

To enable Business Monitor to receive events from event sources, you must create an authentication alias for a user with administrative credentials for WebSphere Application Server.

About this task

This task is for the administrative console but you can also use WebSphere command-line administration tool (wsadmin) AdminConfig commands (see Commands for the AdminConfig object using wsadmin scripting).

Procedure

  1. From the administrative console, click Security > Global Security.
  2. Under Authentication, expand Java Authentication and Authorization Service and select J2C authentication data.
Tip: You can also access this page from various administrative console pages that require authentication alias information.
The authentication alias configuration page is displayed.
  3. Optional: Ensure that the Prefix new alias names with the node name of the cell check box is not selected and then click Apply.
  4. Click New and then complete the form with the requested information.
  5. Click OK and save your changes to the master configuration.
Note: For a Network Deployment installation, make sure that a file synchronize operation is performed to propagate the changes to other nodes.
