The runtime library components in IBM COBOL for AIX, V5.1 cannot be redistributed with developed applications. The runtime in the COBOL for AIX product can only be used in a development environment, on the same machine as the COBOL for AIX compiler. Deployment of COBOL applications in an execution only environment will require the new COBOL Runtime Environment for AIX®, V5.1 product.
COBOL Runtime Environment for AIX is the runtime component of the COBOL for AIX product, which is used for running COBOL applications. Deployment of IBM® COBOL applications will require the COBOL Runtime Environment to execute the applications. With this orderable COBOL Runtime Environment, the redistribution of runtime libraries in the COBOL for AIX, V5.1 product is not required nor permitted.
