To use Data Studio web console with
multiple users you must configure it for multi-user mode by adding
a repository database. Then, configure authentication for the users
and groups of that database. The repository database is also used
to store database connections, alerts and alert configuration settings,
job manager settings and job history.
Before you begin
- Create and
configure a DB2® database
to use as configuration repository. When you use the web console to
select the database for use as a repository database Data Studio web console configures the
database with the required schemas. To manage access to the web console
of Data Studio web console, you
can assign privileges to the users, groups, and roles that are defined
in this database
- If you want to retain the database connection
information you
have configured when using Data Studio web console in single-user
mode, you must export the connections to a text file, and import them
to the configuration repository. If you have configured alerts for
these connections you must make a note of the settings, and reconfigure
the database connections after you have imported them.
About this task
To use
Data Studio web console in
multi-user mode you must add a repository database to store information
about database connections, alert configurations, and to manage user
authentication. Without a repository database,
Data Studio web console stores all information
locally on the computer where you installed
Data Studio web console.
Procedure
To configure Data Studio web console for multi-user
mode:
- Optional: Export
the existing database connections that you want to keep. If
you created database connections while in single-user mode, and plan
to use any of the existing database connections, you must first export
them and later import them into the configuration repository. In the
web console, click Databases, and then click Export
Database Connections to export the existing database connections
to a text file.
Important: The existing database connections
and other settings that are used when you run Data Studio web console in single-user
mode are not retained when you set up a configuration repository.
To keep these settings you must make a note of them, and manually
configure Data Studio web console to
use them with the repository database.
- Set
up a configuration repository. In the web
console, select to select
a relational database as a repository for the Data Studio web console data.
- Configure privileges. In the web console,
select to
configure
privilege requirements for your databases and grant users the privileges
required to manage alerts and manage jobs.
- Configure
user authentication. In the web console,
select to
configure user authentication for the web console.
- From the Databases page, import
any database connections that you exported in step 1.
Results
Data Studio web console runs
in multi-user mode. The database connections, alert settings, privileges
settings, and user authentication settings are stored in the repository
database.
What to do next
If you have not already done so, you must
now add one or
more database connections to start using
Data Studio web console.
