IBM Content Analytics with Enterprise Search, Version 3.0.0

Configuring high availability on Windows

After you install a high availability server on Windows, you must configure the master server and the high availability server for use with Microsoft Cluster Service.

To configure high availability:

  1. For any required resources, such as the storage device on which you installed the IBM® Content Analytics with Enterprise Search data directory, make the resources online on the master server.
  2. On the master server, log in as the IBM Content Analytics with Enterprise Search administrator and run the ES_INSTALL_ROOT\bin\esharesource.vbs file to create a cluster service for IBM Content Analytics with Enterprise Search. On a Windows 2008 server, you must log in as a Windows Administrator.
  3. On the backup server, log in as the IBM Content Analytics with Enterprise Search administrator and run the ES_INSTALL_ROOT\bin\esharesource.vbs file to add the backup server as the owner of the IBM Content Analytics with Enterprise Search cluster service. On a Windows 2008 server, you must log in as the Windows Administrator.
  4. In Microsoft Cluster Service, create a resource group that contains the master server and backup server, and make dependencies on any other required resource such as the storage device on which you installed the IBM Content Analytics with Enterprise Search data directory.
  5. Bring the IBM Content Analytics with Enterprise Search cluster resource online.

After you configure the servers for use with Microsoft Cluster Service, use the administration console on the master server to add the high availability server to the system as a backup server.
