You must install the z/OS® Log Forwarder in
each z/OS logical partition
(LPAR) for which you want to process z/OS log
messages.
Hardware requirements
The z/OS Log Forwarder can
run on any hardware that supports its operating system and other software
requirements.
Software requirements
The
z/OS Log Forwarder requires
the following software to be installed:
- z/OS V1.13 or later
- JES2 or JES3
- Java™ V1.6, V1.7, or V1.8
Known issue: Although the z/OS Log Forwarder runs
equally well on any of these Java versions,
some tests indicate that CPU utilization increases when you run the z/OS Log Forwarder on Java V1.7. Therefore, consider running
the z/OS Log Forwarder on
either Java V1.6 or V1.8.
