If you want to include System Management Facilities (SMF) performance data in your log data, you must configure the SMF real-time data provider to monitor and forward SMF performance data to the z/OS® Log Forwarder.
In configuring the z/OS SMF real-time data provider, you must specify the log stream to monitor for SMF records and the location in which to store the SMF performance data. You must also configure the z/OS Log Forwarder to specify where the SMF real-time data provider stores the SMF performance data.
The z/OS SMF real-time data provider program files include the installation files and the configuration files. These files are created during the installation of the z/OS Log Forwarder and are required for running the z/OS SMF real-time data provider.
