Complete the following steps to configure SNMP settings
on the WebSphere DataPower appliance:
About this task
The information that you provide when configuring SNMP settings
is required when you configure the ITCAM Agent for WebSphere DataPower
Appliance; therefore, write down this information in a worksheet for
future reference.
Procedure
- Log on to the WebGUI of the WebSphere DataPower appliance
that you want to monitor.
- Click Administration > Access > SNMP Settings to display the Configure SNMP Settings window.
- On the Main page, select enabled in the Admin State field.
- In the Local Port field, enter the
UDP port number that is monitored by the SNMP agent or engine for
incoming SNMP requests. The port number that is reserved for the SNMP
agent is 161.
- If you want to use SNMPv3 as the communication protocol
between the ITCAM Agent for WebSphere DataPower Appliance and the
monitored WebSphere DataPower appliance, complete the following additional
steps:
- Select a user ID from the SNMPv3 Users field and click Add.
- Click Edit item to configure
user credentials.
- On the SNMP V3 User Credentials page, click Add. The Edit SNMP
V3 User Credentials page is opened.
- In the Authentication Protocol field, select MD5 or SHA. MD5 indicates that the user ID uses the HMAC-MD5-96 authentication
protocol. SHA indicates that the user ID uses the HMAC-SHA-96
authentication protocol. Do not select None.
- In the Authentication Secret Type field, select Password.
- In the Authentication Secret field,
enter a plaintext password that is at least 8 characters long. You
must enter the same password in the two text boxes of this field.
- In the Privacy Protocol field,
select DES.
- In the Privacy Secret Type field,
select Password.
- In the Privacy Secret field,
enter a plaintext password that is at least eight characters long.
You must enter the same password in the two text boxes of this field.
- Click Apply. The Edit SNMP V3 User Credentials page is closed.
- On the SNMP V3 User Credentials page, click Apply. The Configure
User Account page is closed.
- On the Configure SNMP Settings page,
select the minimum security level that is required for incoming SNMPv3
Get and Set requests in the SNMPv3 Security Level field, select read-only or read-write in the SNMPv3 Access Level field, and then click Apply.
- If you want to use SNMPv1 or SNMPv2c as the communication
protocol between the ITCAM Agent for WebSphere DataPower Appliance
and the monitored WebSphere DataPower appliance, do the following
steps:
- Click SNMPv1/v2c Communities to
open the SNMPv1/v2c Communities page.
- In the Associated Domain field,
select the application domain that is visible to the SNMP managers
belonging to this community. The default value is the default application
domain.
- In the Mode field, select read-only or read-write.
- Click Apply. The Edit
SNMPv1/v2c Communities page is closed.
- Click Save Config. The Save Config button is located in the top right corner
of the window.
