The following list identifies the ways to configure Tivoli® Storage FlashCopy® Manager software
by using a configuration wizard.
About this task
- Standalone Configuration
- When you select the Standalone Configuration option,
you configure Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager to
manage snapshots locally, without using a Tivoli Storage
Manager server.
For stand-alone support, backups are stored locally on the server
that is running the backup. The VSS backup is created by using Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy
Service. The VSS backup produces an online snapshot (point-in-time
consistent copy) of Exchange, SQL, or custom application and file system data.
- TSM Configuration
- When you select the TSM Configuration configuration
option, you configure Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager to
work with Tivoli Storage
Manager.
Backups can be stored either locally or on the Tivoli Storage
Manager server.
The Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager software
protects and manages Exchange, SQL, or custom application and file system data
by using a Tivoli Storage
Manager server.
With Tivoli Storage
Manager,
you can also offload your backups to another computer and to move
the data to the Tivoli Storage
Manager server.
- Mailbox Restore Only
- When you select the Mailbox Restore Only configuration
option, you configure Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager to
restore mailboxes from Exchange database .EDB files.
Extra data protection features are not available. This option is ideal
when you only want to restore mailboxes from .EDB files
and do not want the additional Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager software
functions. The functions that are offered with this configuration
option are included in the other configuration options.
