Importing a partition template

You can import a partition template into the template library by using the Hardware Management Console (HMC).

To import a partition template, complete the following steps:
  1. Choose one of the following navigation options depending on the interface type of the Hardware Management Console (HMC):
    • If you are using an HMC Enhanced interface, complete the following steps:
      1. In the navigation area, expand Systems Management > Servers.
      2. Select a server and click Templates > Template Library.
    • If you are using an HMC Enhanced+ interface, complete the following steps:
      1. In the navigation pane, click the HMC Management icon The icon represents the HMC Management function of the HMC.
      2. Click Templates and OS Images, or click Template Library.
  2. Click the Partition tab and click Import. The following restrictions apply when you import a partition template:
    • If the partition template schema is different from the schema that is supported by the HMC, for example if a tag is used which is not a part of the template OpenDocument Spreadsheets (ODS) file element, the template cannot be imported and the operation fails.
    • If the template file size exceeds 10 MB, the template cannot be imported and the operation fails.
  3. In the Import Partition Template page, click Browse to navigate to the required template file. After you select the file, the selected file name is displayed in the Template name field. You can optionally change the name of the file. If a template with that name exists, the import fails and an error message is displayed.
  4. Click OK.
