PCIe slot descriptions for the 9080-MHE, 9080-MME, 9119-MHE, or 9119-MME
The 9080-MHE, 9080-MME, 9119-MHE, or 9119-MME system provides eight low-profile, PCIe generation 3 slots. Standard low-profile (half-length, short-form factor) adapters are allowed in these slots. The PCIe slots are enabled to support the PCIe3 cable adapter (FC EJ07) that is used to attach the EMX0 PCIe Gen3 I/O expansion drawer. The PCIe slots support generation 3, low-profile, double-wide, blind-swap cassettes.
Figure 1 shows the rear view of the 9080-MHE, 9080-MME, 9119-MHE, or 9119-MME system with the location codes for the PCIe adapter slots.

1Assigned PCIe slot order when the I/O Adapter Enlarged Capacity option is enabled.
For example, if the option was enabled with a value of 2, two slots (P1-C1 and P1-C3) are enabled
with the I/O enlarged capacity. If the option was enabled with a value of 3, then three slots
(P1-C1, P1-C3, and P1-C5) are enabled with the I/O enlarged capacity, and so on.
Note: Enabling the
I/O Adapter Enlarged Capacity option will only affect Linux partitions. If your system does not have
Linux partitions, the I/O Adapter Enlarged Capacity setting should be disabled.

- All slots are PCIe generation 3 slots.
- All slots support enhanced error handling (EEH).
- All PCIe slots are hot swappable and support concurrent maintenance.
PCIe adapters placement rules
- All slots are x16 with busses direct from the Processor Modules and must be used to install high-performance PCIe adapters. The adapter priority for these slots is for the PCIe3 cable adapter (FC EJ07), SAS adapters (FC EJ0M, EJ11), followed by any other high-performance low-profile adapter.
- If FC EC45 is driving the internal DVD, it must be installed in slot P1-C2 of the first system node.
- All slots support Single Root IO Virtualization (SRIOV) capable adapters.
