Manage the data that is stored on your DS8000® storage
system with either the DS Storage Manager or
the DS command-line interface (DS CLI).
Registering for My Notifications
Your IBM® storage
product is designed to deliver high performance services with quality
and satisfaction. As part of IBM's ongoing quality improvement processes, IBM periodically issues product
updates that help improve overall quality and reliability. IBM communicates new information
of this nature through the My Notifications process. The information
available to you covers a broad range of materials, including software
knowledge-base documents, preventive service-planning information,
fix information, security advisories, and more.
Getting started with configurations
You must complete a logical configuration for your storage
system. The information that is presented here can help you as you
begin to work with configurations.
Copy Services
Manage data that is stored on your DS8800 storage
system with Copy Services functions such as FlashCopy®, Global Mirror, and Metro Mirror.
Managing your data with Copy Services also requires that you create
mirroring connectivity, previously referred to as paths for data communication.
IBM Easy Tier
You can use Easy Tier® in
automatic mode to manage system health, storage performance, and storage
capacity. If automatic mode is disabled, you can monitor performance
and manage storage capacity manually by merging extent pools and migrating
data between volumes.
Hosts
Plan for various host attachments to consolidate your storage
capacity and workloads by using the instructions for creating, updating,
and managing hosts.
Hardware Management Console
The Hardware Management Console (HMC) supports storage
system hardware and firmware installation and maintenance activities.
Tasks
Use information about viewing, ending, deleting, and saving
tasks to plan and manage Task procedures. Information on the
long running tasks pages is in the Reference section.
Parallel access volumes
Parallel access volumes must be unbound and reassociated
when the capacity or number of 3390 volumes within a logical control
unit is increased.
Resource groups
The managing of resource groups involves creating and modifying
policies and user authorizations.
Storage complexes
The managing of storage complexes involves addition, connection,
viewing, modification, and deletion tasks.
Storage images
The managing of storage images involves storage key and
I/O port configuration tasks.
Storage unit hardware
The basic operation of the storage unit includes the power-on
and power-off procedure.
Viewing and downloading audit logs
Complete this task to export audit logs for your storage complex.
The logs can be used for auditing
purposes to determine when changes are made to a storage complex and
by which user.
