Verifying that the destination server supports the virtual server network

To migrate a mobile partition that uses the virtual server network (VSN), you must verify that the destination server also uses VSN by using the Hardware Management Console (HMC).

When the Hardware Management Console (HMC) is at version 8.7.0, or later, you can use the lssyscfg command to verify that the server uses VSN.

To verify that the destination server uses VSN, complete the following steps:

  1. In the navigation pane, open Systems Management and click Servers.
  2. Select the server in the work pane.
  3. From the Tasks menu, click Properties.
  4. Click the Capabilities tab.
    • If Virtual Server Network Phase 2 Capable is True, the destination server uses VSN.
    • If Virtual Server Network Phase 2 Capable is False, the destination server does not use VSN. To migrate the mobile partition to the destination server, disable VSN on the source server.
  5. Click OK.
