Verifying that the source or destination server supports redundant mover service partitions

To migrate a logical partition when you are using redundant mover service partitions (MSPs), verify that the destination server supports redundant MSPs by using the Hardware Management Console (HMC) command-line interface. You can also verify whether the MSP is redundant MSP capable.

• To verify that the source or destination server supports redundant MSPs, run the following command from the HMC command line:

  lslparmigr -r sys -m <sysName> 

• To verify that the source or destination MSP is redundant MSP capable, run one of the following commands from the HMC command line:

  • lslparmigr -r msp -m <srcCecName> -t <dstCecName> --filter “lpar_names=<lpar_name>

  • lslparmigr -r msp -m <srcCecName> -t <dstCecName> --filter “lpar_ids=<lpar_id>

  The lslparmigr command returns one of the following values:

  • 0 indicates that the destination server does not support redundant MSPs.
  • 1 indicates that the destination server supports redundant MSPs.
  • Unavailable indicates that information about whether the destination server supports redundant MSPs is not available. This value is valid only in scenarios when the destination server is managed by a different HMC that is at a version earlier than version 8.6.0.
