Verifying that the destination server supports partitions that are capable of remote restart

To migrate an AIX®, IBM® i, or Linux mobile partition that is capable of remote restart, verify that the destination server supports partitions that are capable of remote restart by using the Hardware Management Console (HMC).

With HMC 7.6.0, or later, you can migrate an AIX, IBM i, or Linux logical partition to another server that is capable of remote restart.

When the Hardware Management Console (HMC) is at version 8.7.0, or later, you can use the lssyscfg command to verify that the destination server supports partitions that are capable of remote restart.

To verify that the destination server supports partitions that are capable of remote restart, complete the following steps:

  1. In the navigation pane, open Systems Management and click Servers.
  2. Select the destination server in the work pane.
  3. From the Tasks menu, click Properties.
  4. Click the Capabilities tab.
    • If PowerVM Partition Remote Restart Capable is True, the destination server supports partitions that are capable of remote restart.
    • If PowerVM Partition Remote Restart Capable is False, the destination server does not support partitions that are capable of remote restart, and you cannot migrate the mobile partition to the server. To migrate the mobile partition, change the partition configuration so that it is not capable of remote restart.
  5. Click OK.
