Purpose
Prepares
a device to be assigned to a shared memory pool (to be used as a paging
space device by a shared memory partition).
Syntax
prepdev { -dev devicename }
Description
The
prepdev command
prepares a device to be assigned to a shared memory pool (to be used
as a paging space device by a shared memory partition). This command
determines whether the device specified by the
-dev flag is
already assigned or used in the following manner:
- Assigned to a shared memory pool (being used as a paging device)
- Used as a backup device for virtual SCSI
- Used by a file system, logical volume, or volume group.
If the device is already being used or assigned to a shared memory
pool, you receive system output that tells you how to prepare the
device to be used as a paging space device.
