Step-by-step installation of ILMT 9.2.0.2 on Windows 2008 R2 Server

Education

Abstract

One of my previous articles regarding 'All-in-one interactive ILMT 9.0.1 Server installation' has received a pretty good feedback, since it was very helpful for many of you.
https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/blogs/ilmt/entry/all_in_one_interactive_ilmt_9_0_1_server_installation?lang=en

This time we try a newly supported Operating System, so I will present you a step-by-step interactive installation of ILMT 9.2.0.2 on Windows 2008 R2 Server.

CN4HDML IBM License Metric Tool License Generator V9.2.0 for Windows x86-64 Multilingual ILMT_LicGenerator920_winx64.zip
CN4SQML IBM Endpoint Manager Platform Installer V9.2.0 for Multiplatforms IEM_Pltfrm_Install_V92.zip

Having all these packages downloaded and copied into the test server, we can proceed with installation.
I used a 2014 version install kit, but you can use the 2012 or 2008 versions as well.
The supported versions are:
2008, 2008 Express®
2008 R2, 2008 R2 Express
2012, 2012 Express
2014 Express

Once you have the installation kit copied on your server, make sure you have the prerequisites installed. These are 'Windows PowerShell 2.0' and 'Microsoft NET Framework 3.5 FP1'. With these in place, let's start the SQL Server 2014 installation.

Let's continue with the installation of IEM 9.2. After you copy and extract the content of the 2 packages I mentioned above, run the IEM setup.
We continue with slide #13.

From this step, you have 2 possibilities. Either choose the first option and create the authorization file directly in the IEM installer or choose the second option (I want to install with a product license I already have) and in this case you need to use the license generator package (CN4HDML) and create the license separately, then add it to the installer.

Either ways, you need to have the LicenseAuthorization_XXXXXXXXXXXXXX_Create.BESLiceseAuthorization file, that can be downloaded from BigFix website after you open and fill in the 'create_license_file.html' from the IEM License generator package.
