Reassigning an object store that contains a workflow system where the master key in both FileNet P8 domains is not the same results in access denied errors

Abstract

A workflow system was reassigned to a destination domain where the master key is not the same as the master key of the source domain. This action results in access denied errors when connecting to the workflow system. The following message appears in the pesvr_system.log file:
"Special upgrade is needed for some of the PEStoreConfig data.; Exception: Cryptography exception encountered."

Content

After you reassign an object store that has an associated workflow system where the  master key in each domain is not the same, complete the following steps on the destination system:
  1. Open the Administration Console for Content Platform Engine:
    1. In the domain navigation pane, expand Object Stores and select the reassigned object store.
    2. In the object store navigation pane, click Administrative > Workflow System
    3. Reset the Workflow System Security Group values by browsing to select values appropriate to the destination domain.
    4. Save the changes to the workflow system.
  2. Restart the Content Platform Engine server.
