Abstract

IBM Case Foundation (formerly IBM FileNet Business Process Manager) Version 5.2 announced in March, 2013 provides the integrated task and business process capabilities for IBM Case Manager as well as the IBM FileNet P8 family of offerings. IBM Case Foundation Version 5.2.0 is focused on consolidating and simplifying the administration of the P8 platform to help reduce the total cost of ownership. In Version 5.2.0, the Content Engine and Process Engine have been combined and now run as a single deployed application. The combined engine is called Content Platform Engine. Version 5.2.1 was released on October 31st, 2014. This newsletter covers the Case Foundation 5.2 and 5.2.1 topics as well as the relevant topics for IBM FileNet Business Process Manager 4.5.1.x. and eProcess 5.2.

  3. Checking and resetting the vwlog sequences in the Process Engine's database
    Process Engine (PE) 4.5.1 and 5.0 and Content Platform Engine (CPE) 5.2.0 assign a sequentially incrementing sequence number to each new event log. The sequence number is limited to what can be held in a 32-bit signed integer, so a total of 2.1 billion (2147483647) Process Engine "event log" records can be written into a vwlog table before problems are seen.
  4. Enabling Case Analyzer to process Process Engine event logs which has a sequence number reset
    All versions of Process Engine(PE) prior to Content Platform Engine (CPE) 5.2.1.2 use a 32-bit integer to store the auto-incremented sequence number. When the max value for this integer is reached, PE stops writing event log entries. This sequence number can be recycled by setting it to a smaller value that allows PE to continue writing event entries.
