In the Spotlight

  1. IBM Knowledge Center is rolling out during March
IBM Knowledge Centerbrings IBM's technical publications together in a single location that will replace over 800 individual IBM Information Centers.
  2. Master Data Management Closed-loop Request for Enhancement (RFE) Process
Beginning January 1st, 2014 the preferred method for all IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management (MDM) clients interested in entering new Request for Enhancements (RFEs) will be through the Information Management RFE community.
  3. How does MDM Standard Edition handle database connections?
How does MDM Standard Edition handle database connections? We have observed that the established connections are not terminated until the MDM SE application is recycled, even if the database connectivity is lost resulting in dead connections. Is there any way to set up the application to terminate connections when connectivity is lost e.g. heartbeat or keep-alive options?
  4. Memory management in Initiate Master Data Service
How does MDS manage memory, what are the key memory parameters, and where can I set them?
  5. Hybrid setup in clustered environment
Hybrid post-install scripts fail to enable InfoSphere Hybrid MDM implementation in clustered environment.
  6. Database Creation during version 11 Install
I successfully completed the MDM version 11 install and although there were no errors, the database and the database schema were not created. Why weren't they created? OR I installed the DB2 database (bundled with MDS build) with the installation manager, but on the database configuration screen, the "Test Connection" always fails. Why is the connection failing? OR I successfully completed the MDM version 11 install and although there were no errors, I am unable to connect to the database using "madconfig test_datasource" or through the DB2 command line. Why is that?
  7. Installing InfoSphere MDM version 11 on Websphere Application Server 8.5.5.0
What are the WebSphere Application Server version 8.5.5.0 configurations needed before installing InfoSphere MDM 11 on WebSphere Application Server 8.5.5.0?
  8. Basic health checks to ensure optimal performance
A set of basic configuration and maintenance guidelines are provided with IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management Collaboration Server. You may follow these guidelines to help avoid general performance problems. This document summarizes how to quickly check recommended configuration and maintenance status using the pimSupport.sh script.
  9. IBM Initiate Master Data Service - End of Service dates for older v8 and v9 versions
IBM continues to strengthen its IBM Initiate Master Data Service solution with new product releases. With the introduction of new products, previously available versions will end of service as indicated below.

Plan

  1. ERROR MAD_UniReadLineNarrow: no newline found in first X characters
I was running an MDS utility, say mpxdata, and the utility quit with the following entry in the log: ERROR MAD_UniReadLineNarrow: no newline found in first X characters. ERROR MPX_BxmDataRead: input file read error Success, processed Y records. There were no additional errors logged or descriptive messages printed. Even the job summary indicated that there were no errors (totErrs=0) e.g.: INFO MPX_BxmData: totRecs=94238, totErrs=0, elapsed=11 secs., recs/sec=8567, minbkttag=0, maxbkttag=0, nMemParts=1, nBktParts=10, buffsize=65536, entPrior=0. Why am I seeign this behavior and how can I prevent it?
  2. DB21004E error while executing jobs from workbench
I executed a job from the workbench and got the following error: DB21004E You cannot specify both an input file and a command when invoking the Command Line Processor Why am I getting this and how can I prevent it?
  3. Error during weight generation: "assertion failed [ P->DNX != 0.0F ]"
When we run the "Validate Weights" utility, we get the following error for one of the entities: FATAL MAD_Assert: [madlib/mpxwgta.c:138] assertion failed [ P->DNX != 0.0F ] Why are we getting this error and how can we prevent it?
  4. "ORA-12514 Connection refused" Exception
The engine/stand-alone entity manager logs have the following entries: Caused by: java.sql.SQLNonTransientConnectionException: [IBM][Oracle JDBC Driver][Oracle]ORA-12514 Connection refused, the specified service name (SERVICE_NAME) was not recognized by the Oracle server. Why am I getting this error and how can I circumvent it?
  5. InfoSphere MDM Collaboration Server with Global Data Synchronization (GDS) fails to start because of the MQJCA1008 error, mismatch of the WebSphere MQ jars.
When you attempt to start the InfoSphere MDM Collaboration Server with Global Data Synchronization (GDS) component it fails with MQJCA1008 error, mismatch of the WebSphere MQ jars.
  6. The fields are blank when you login to the Data Stewardship application
When you login to the InfoSphere MDM Server Data Stewardship User Interface (UI) application, the data of the fields such as gender, country, and so forth, that should be populated are actually blank.
  7. Running mpxfreq in multi-instance mode (-MI)
mpxfreq is a very time and resource intensive utility. We do not have sufficient memory to complete the mpxfreq utility in normal mode. OR We want to reduce the time taken for mpxfreq by using multi-instance mode. Do you have a sample on how to run mpxfreq in multi-instance (-MI) mode?
  8. Frequency Based Bucketing (regular and dynamic)
How is Dynamic Frequency Based Bucketing (DFBB) different from regular Frequency Based Bucketing (FBB)? How can I set them up and how do they work?
  9. JNIContext is not valid after disconnect
The following error is consistently logged in the logs and sometimes, it may even cause some components to hang: ERROR iatesystems.hub.engine.JNIMpiNet: JNIContext is not valid after disconnect Why am I getting this error and how can I prevent them?
