This document describes recommended software levels and APARs related to the DB2 Version 10.1 pureScale feature on AIX.

Recommendations for running DB2 pureScale Version 10.1 on AIX

AIX versionRecommended minimum AIX technology levels
7.1GA SP3
  • DB2 Version 10.1 requires a C++ runtime level of xlC.rte 11.1.0.1 and xlC.aix61.rte.11.1.0.1
  • TL01: no additional APARs are recommended
  • TL02: no additional APARs are recommended
6.1TL06 SP5 plus fix for APAR IV01781
  • DB2 Version 10.1 requires a C++ runtime level of xlC.rte 11.1.0.1 and xlC.aix61.rte 11.1.0.1
  • TL06: Service Pack 6 should be avoided due to AIX APAR IV10812
  • TL07: GA level (SP0) should be avoided due to AIX APAR IV08112
  • TL08: no additional APARs are recommended

  • IV37441 IB INTERFACE FAILURES. INTERFACE STOP PINGING. PENDING BIT ISSUE
  • IV47374 CREATION UNCLOSED DESCRIPTORS MAY LEAD TO FAILED SOCKET
  • IV35894 UDAPL CONSUMER DOING DAT_EVD_WAIT COULD GET STUCK IN A TIMEOUT

Use the DB2 Version 10.1 Fix Pack 3 product. It includes:
  • fixes for APARs found in the DB2 Version 10.1 Fix Pack 2 product
  • fixes for SECURITY/HIPER/Special Attention APARs from earlier releases
  • GPFS™ 3.5.0.4
  • TSA MP 3.2.7.1
