In the following table, the Support Policy outlines how IBM intends to work with customers who have purchased IBM Support for WebSphere Application Server Community Edition.

Recommended configuration	IBM recommends that customers use these operating system levels and processor architectures, since IBM tests WebSphere Application Server Community Edition with these platforms. IBM expects that WebSphere Application Server Community Edition should function reliably on a given platform if: The application itself conforms to the J2EE™/Java EE™ specification, and The platform has been validated by the Apache Geronimo community and is supported by IBM under an IBM Support for Apache Geronimo support contract, and/or The platform has undergone a relatively minor level of testing by IBM to validate basic functionality (install, start the server, stop the server, and so on) on the platform, and/or The IBM Business Partner (who owns, creates, maintains, publishes, sells, or delivers the platform) claims that WebSphere Application Server Community Edition works with their platform configuration	For customers that have an active IBM Support for WebSphere Application Server Community Edition support contract, IBM will work with the customer, IBM Business Partners and the Apache Geronimo community in a commercially reasonable manner to help solve the customer problem or determine that the problem source is outside of WebSphere Application Server Community Edition. On some platforms WebSphere Application Server Community Edition is supported only for development and testing. In the below sub sections, some of the platform names are super-scripted with a number. For each super-scripted number, there is a corresponding note in Notes sub section at the bottom. Follow the note to understand how IBM treats each such platform. The Notes sub section also has additional information on supported platforms.

Memory and Disk space requirements

Disk: 256 MB to hold the server's installation files, initial configuration, and log files (not including JDK)

Memory: 512 MB RAM (1024 MB or more preferred and depends on deployed applications)

2. WebSphere Application Server Community Edition, running under a recommended IBM SDK on a recommended operating system cannot distinguish between x86_32 and x86_64 architecture. WebSphere Application Server Community Edition does not impose additional hardware restrictions beyond those imposed by the IBM SDK or operating system.
   
   
3. We recommend running WebSphere Application Server Community Edition under the default shell for this OS (/bin/sh).
