The IBM POWER8 platform supports operating systems that use big endian or little endian byte ordering. Migrating programs written for a big endian operating system to a little endian operating system may require code changes to maintain program behaviour or results. This article describes the differences, new options, and intrinsic procedures and makes suggestions about code changes to port code to IBM XL Fortran on POWER8.
